Decorate the Windows to the Soul

We’ve talked a lot about how to make your skin look great with airbrush makeup. We’ve talked about how to use the beauty essentials, how to apply the foundation and how to keep it all in place throughout the day.

But what about the eyes? The eyes are a big part of what people see when they look at you and you want to make sure they look fabulous. But how do you do that with an at-home airbrush system? Let’s talk…

Airbrush Eyeshadows

We will cover applying airbrush eyeshadow in an upcoming post, but for now, let’s go over the basics.

We offer airbrush eyeshadows in individual colors as well as sets. Choosing the best color(s) for you depend on your skin tone, your eye color and your own taste. Like metallics? Go for it! Prefer the warm shades of red, yellow and pink? Do it! Want to keep things a little more subtle? No problem!

The key with applying airbrush eyeshadow is to take your time. Learn the process because it’s not as simple as applying foundation, but it’s not rocket science, either. Start with one color at a time before you move on to blending and multiple colors. You can watch this video for some pointers and we will post more pictures and videos on this in the future.

Cream Eyeshadows   

Cream eyeshadows are great for creating long-lasting, rich looks that work for day or night. Using a small makeup brush, apply it to your lids like you would any eyemakeup. BONUS TIP: To make it last even longer, take a drop of the moisturizing primer and use it on your lids before applying the eyeshadow; let dry and then go on with your makeup routine. For a lighter touch, apply the cream shadows with your fingertip. Just try to avoid tugging on your eyelid or the skin around your eyes, as this will distort the makeup and can cause loose skin in the long run.

Mineral Eyeshadows

Prefer mineralmakeup? We have those, too! To be used wet or dry, these pigments are incredibly versatile.

Wet your makeup brush and then shake off the excess water. Dip into the mineral eyeshadow and then apply to your eyelid. This will give you a richer, smoother look similar to liquid eyeshadows. Or use dry like regular eyeshadows – whatever kind of look you are going for, you can create with these mineral pigments.

Beyond Eyeshadow

Traveling with Airbrush Makeup

You love your airbrush makeup system, and really, why wouldn’t you? It applies your makeup quickly and evenly. But you are about to go on a trip and you want to know how to manage your makeup routine without having to resort to drastic measures. We have some answers for you.

Airport Approved

As of this writing, the TSA says it’s okay to carry on your airbrush system. You can also have it checked bags easily, since the compressors are generally small enough to fit in your hand. The stylus should be cleaned before travel and the cords should be wrapped securely. I also suggest wrapping the stylus in something to prevent damage or debris from causing problems.

When traveling out of the country, either bring an adapter for all your electronic devices, or you can purchase a region-specific electronic adapter from us. 

Small in Size, Big in Power

Not only are the compressor and airbrush system small enough to fit in almost any luggage, but the makeup is, too. We often have two sizes for our products and a small bottle will take you through nearly any kind of vacation or trip you might go on – and then some.

Just make sure you don’t overtwist the caps on your bottles or you take the risk of damaging them and causing a mess. Just in case, it’s always a good plan to store any makeup and liquids you are traveling in plastic Ziploc bags to prevent spillage on your clothing.

Relax, Don’t Overdo It

The best part about traveling, whether for fun or business, is that you don’t have to worry about what you look like or wear a full load of makeup. You can if you want to, of course. But you generally don’t need much – moisturizer, foundation, facial wipes and maybe a few odds and ends like mascara or lipstick. My general rule of thumb is make sure my makeup fits in a normal sandwich bag when I travel – anything else gets left behind.

Prepare Beforehand

It also helps if you plan to do any haircuts, facials and spray tanning before you leave on your trip. Plan to have your hair done a few days before your trip so you have time to get used to it before you leave. Ask your hairdresser if they have any suggestions for special treatments for the area you are going to (leave-in conditioners, anti-frizz serums, hairsprays, etc.). Pamper your skin before and after your trip with whatever products work best for your skin.

Relax!

You should always be wearing sunscreen anyway, but if you like to tan, apply a spray tan before you go. (You can upgrade your airbrush system with a tanning attachment and apply your own tan at home.)

As the summers ends and people fit in their last long weekends and vacations, keep these tips in mind and have a safe and fun traveling experience!

How to Look Cool in the Heat

It’s August, one of the hottest times of the year. Death Valley is seeing records temps, heat advisories are being issued and everyone is jumping into pools or playing in sprinklers to stay cool.

 

So how do you keep your airbrush makeup from sweating off, melting in the heat or otherwisemoving around in the heat? Let’s show you how…

Hot Tools

There are three main tools you need to keep your airbrush makeup intact through the summer heat: a great primer, translucent powder and waterproof sealant.

Start off Cool

With a clean face, apply your moisturizing primer. This will keep the moisture in your skin IN your skin while also getting your face ready for your makeup. Apply this all over your face and then let dry. BONUS TIP: Use the air from your airbrush stylus to help you dry your face faster.

Final Seal Waterproof Sealant

Look Chill

Once the primer has set, apply your airbrush foundation. Light is best in the summer heat so make sure you are starting off with light layers. Let the first layer dry and then use your translucent powder to set it. If you have to apply more layers, dry and set with the powder.

Icy Perfection

Once you have finished applying all your makeup – foundation, eye makeup, lipstick, etc. – and you are getting ready to leave, then you want to apply the final step. You can use either the airbrush Final Seal or the portable spray version. Cover your whole face and let dry.

Looking Hot, But Staying Cool

And you are set! Yes, you are still going to sweat but your makeup won’t. Just pat dry your face when you feel the moisture coming, don’t wipe. If you follow these steps you will look great all day, and night, long!
